Howdy all! As you know this is my weekend down from Egress, which is typically a bi-weekly comic, however I will update my journal with a movie review:

I decided to venture out between my camp runs this afternoon to get some much needed air-conditioning (nope, the heat spell still hasn't broken in NJ yet) and had every intention to take in a long-awaited movie that I've had my eye on the previews of, ever since May 2010 when the trailer/teaser first aired in theaters.

This movie, of course is "Inception".

Inception Trailer
Inception Featurette

It had come out last Friday - June 16th, 2010, and I must say that it has quite the most amazing storyline that I have indulged in... in a very, very long time.

Essentially, it is almost identical in both synopsis and idea that "Egress" and SGRE have behind what I have written for both comics. It combines the constructs of a Labyrinth, Dreams, Philosophy, and Psychology into one underlying premise to move the story in a specific direction and keep a viewer guessing until the ending. If you look at the movie title, you will notice that the word, "Inception" is designed to look like a Labyrinth. (Totally awesome!)

No. Sadly, there is no Goblin King in "Inception", but Leonardo DiCaprio makes for a very thought-provoking hero/anti-hero.

The idea behind "Inception" is that people create dreamworlds and enter into other people's minds by building a dream Labyrinth. Then, they steal ideas from the minds they have invaded by confusing the dreamers within these Labyrinth Worlds that they have created. However, stealing sub-conscious dreams prove difficult as the sleeping-mind tends to have natural barriers and defenses in place, in order to protect the victim's most secretive thoughts. It's a very deep movie, with a twisted ending that will leave you drawing your own conclusions as the credits begin to roll. I kept saying, MOAR! MOAR!

Chris Nolan (Director of "Dark Knight") directs "Inception", and he does a marvellous job with the unusual camera angles and concise, structed flow of the entire movie, and outstanding visuals. If you have a chance to see "Inception", then I would highly recommend it. If you are curious how I write my comics, then I would also highly recommend it, because "Egress" (much to my surprise) has nearly exactly the same exact premise, except my story contains the Goblin King and Sarah Williams. "Inception" is purely a fantasy-meets reality movie for older teens and adults. (Not recommended for very young children and tweens, mainly because there are dark themes laced within and it will be difficult to follow due to twisted realities and dreams within dreams within dreams.) <-- This movie functions on a multi-layer of thought, which is 'my cup of tea'! P-E-R-F-E-C-T!

... Now, the only thing I really could ask for in this movie is less commercials before it begins in the theaters and less previews too. I must have sat through nearly a half-hour of commercials and another half-hour of previews. Which is completely unacceptable when movie prices are so phenomenally high and the concessions too. (At least, I got finger-tingling, air-conditioning, which I don't get in my car, bus, or house) :|

Anyway, if you see "Inception" or have already seen it, then I recommend these similar concept movies that I have adored for many years that have the similar theme of tapping into people's minds and accessing their dreams and ideas... (besides "Labyrinth")

Also, a shout out to the upcoming December movie, "TRON legacy". I was about 5 years old when the first TRON movie came out, and I totally rocked the arcade game in my local laundromat. I remember that my brothers and I were totally addicted to "TRON" when it came out on VHS (yipe) and we watched the movie until it broke. I was so delighted when the 25th anniversary DVD came out, and if you look in stores now, you should find the original TRON movie posters circulating around.

Tron: Legacy

I'm a fan of VGs forever, and I'm a forever fan of TRON.

PS: Just remember, folks, that the movie trailers from the 1980s never did the movies justice or gave them proper credit to actually make you want to watch them like the build up we have in the 21st century trailers. Just look at the "Labyrinth c1986 trailer" on YouTube if you don't believe me. The trailer is not really great for the amazing story that the "Labyrinth" actually held.

Also: A special CONGRATS to my boss's daughter and her soon-to-be husband(tommorrow -Saturday- June 24th, 2010) on the day of their wedding.

I will not be available this weekend to answer comments because of this event's reception on Sunday, but I will answer what I can tonight, and return to drawing the next pages of "Egress" for next weekend.

Have a wonderful weekend, and week! :blowkiss: :boogie:

Learned to draw from Marvel & MAD Magazine. It's been a hobby, but now I'm trying to procure it as a profession. I can draw 16-26 hours a day without stopping. I think I could do this for a living. I'm a bit anti-social, even though I don't seen it. I take my art very seriously, even though I am a huge comedian. I view deviantART as a professional site, where artists congregate and display their artwork. I enjoy reading and viewing other people's artwork, and try to offer praise and sound advice (if needed). My favorite subject matter is stories/movie stories/comics/manga or fanfiction. If I can read/watch it and it inspires me, then I will draw it.
